1919 Influenza Casualty Group-Bombardier F Rich

A very poignant group associated with 126790 Bombardier Fred Rich RGA. Fred survived two years at the front and being wounded only to die of the Spanish Flu on 5th April 1919. The group consists of his Memorial Scroll with accompanying certificate. Identity bracelet in the shape of a shell, his wound stripe and cap badge. There are four letters three sent by a sister who nursed him from admission to hospital to his death. In one of the letters the sister refers to a purse of money she returned to his wife. This little purse is included with the group it contains mixed British and German coins and notes. There is a condolence letter from his Battery Commander and two photos of Fred with his daughter. Finally a small doll made of wool possibly a gift from his daughter. There are other associated official documents sent to his wife.
Fred earned the British War and Victory Medals and now rest in Cologne Sud Friedhof cemetery.
