A set of issue fibre identity discs worn by Gunner Sydney Henry Bolden 137 Heavy Battery RGA. Sydney served overseas and was awarded the British War and Victory Medals. The red fibre disc replaced the metal disc (introduced by Army Order 102/1907) in August 1914. In 1916 the green fibre 'disc' was introduced by Army Order 287/1916. this allowed the green disc to stay with the body of a soldier while the red was returned to records and ultimately on to the family.
