Early Great War Housewife
Category:
£45.00
A good example of the pre/ early war housewife. In my experience these seem to be made at unit level to an authorised pattern. These early housewives are made of a variety of materials ranging from navy blue to grey flannel to khaki even in tartan. The internal cloth is black glazed cotton formed into three tunnels to hold thread with a small pouch for buttons etc and a piece of flannel to hold needles. The last picture shows two examples in my own collection ( not for sale)
