A good example of the 1917 Infantry whistle as issued to NCOs and Other Ranks in key appointments. Contrary to collector myth dated whistles are not Officers whistles. Officers purchased their own from the multiple commercial equipment suppliers. That is not to say the dated whistles did not find their way into and Officers possession. This example has some wear to the metal but otherwise sound.
